This article discusses 7 films like The Curse of Bridge Hollow you must watch. Here are some great Halloween-friendly recommendations.
The Curse of Bridge Hollow is the latest in the genre of family-friendly Halloween films, which are perfect for watching with younger viewers or if you’re not into hard-core horror movies. While it didn’t garner great reviews, it’s still a fun film for the October holiday. We’ve gathered other family-friendly spooky movies that you can watch to get into the mood for Halloween.
Hocus Pocus is the classic family Halloween film and now is a great time to revisit the original, with the sequel just having been released on Disney+. The film, directed by Kenny Ortega, depicts a teenage boy who accidentally resurrects a trio of witches, played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. Much like The Curse of Bridge Hollow, it’s set in a small New England town as the main character must try to save the town from spooky forces.
One of the best (and one of the earliest) Disney Channel Original Movies was certainly Duwayne Dunham’s Halloweentown. The first in the series, it follows a young girl who discovers that she’s a witch and travels to a magical place called Halloweentown. It’s similarly focused around family and features a great cast including Debbie Reynolds.
A classic family Halloween film, The Addams Family follows a strange, macabre family reconnecting with a long-lost relative. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, the film was based on the cartoon by Charles Addams and the 1964 TV series. Anjelica Huston was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance as Morticia Addams. The Addams might not be battling anything, but it’s definitely all about the power of family.
If you’re looking for another teen Halloween movie, then the Disney Channel Original Movie Zombies is a great one. It might not be centered around the holiday specifically, but it’s definitely spooky as it’s centered around zombies trying to integrate into human society. Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly have great chemistry as a zombie and a cheerleader falling in love.

Hotel Transylvania is the first in a quartet of animated films about a set of monsters living in the titular hotel. It features voice talents including Selena Gomez, Steve Buscemi, Fran Drescher, and Andy Samberg. It might be aimed at a slightly younger audience than The Curse of Bridge Hollow, but it’s still a fun watch.
The second film in the live-action Scooby-Doo franchise had to be included on this list. Raja Gosnell’s film follows the gang as they fight against a villain who is recreating the monsters they’ve fought in the past. They’re similarly trying to defeat the monsters who have been brought to life, much as they are working to fight the Halloween decorations brought to life in The Curse of Bridge Hollow. The cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, and Matthew Lillard.
Rob Letterman’s film based on R.L. Stine’s children’s horror book series is a great one to watch with family around Halloween. It stars Jack Black and Stine as he and his daughter must save their town from the monsters he has created in his books who have escaped into the real world, much as the characters of The Curse of Bridge Hollow must save their time.
