The Catalan actress Itziar Castro, known for series such as Vis a vis or By H or by B and movies like Skins (for which she was nominated for a Goya in 2017) or Champions, died this morning at the age of 46, as confirmed by the director of his representation agency, Gabriela Defty. The cause of her death is unknown at this time.
Her family and friends have published a statement in which they highlight the “indelible mark” that the Catalan performer leaves with her “remarkable performance and charisma.” “Itziar was not only a talented actress and artist, but a tireless fighter for her ideals and beliefs. “She faced each challenge with a determination and courage that inspired many,” the message reads.
The news was announced by director Frankie de Leonardis on the social network X, who has highlighted her career as an actress and “her fight for equality and social justice.” Castro was nominated for the Goya for best new actress for her role in Skins (2017) by Eduardo Casanova.
