This Thursday the Civil Guard arrested a known moonshiner which was part of the list of the ten most wanted fugitives in Spain published last week by the National Police.
This is Luis Martínez Calleja, who has been arrested on a farm in the south of the Community of Madrid. He had escaped from the Madrid prison of Alcalá Meco on March 9, 2014. on a motorcycle while taking advantage of a transfer to the hospital and since then his whereabouts were unknown.
According to a statement, he has seven judicial charges in force for breach of sentence by escaping from prison and for pending criminal cases, among others. He was serving time for his involvement in numerous moon landings and for his excessive aggressiveness with the State Security Forces and Bodies.
Second arrest in seven days
He is the second detainee since the Police launched a campaign on May 30 asking for citizen collaboration. Manuel BM, considered the biggest currency counterfeiter in Spain, was the first captured on the listjust 48 hours after its publication and thanks to the information provided by a citizen.
The investigation began several weeks ago when the agents detected strange movements on a farm located on the borders of the towns of Batres and Serranillos del Valle, in the south of Madrid. As a result of the established surveillance, the presence of the fugitive was confirmed.
On Wednesday afternoon, Civil Guard agents from the Navalcarnero Investigation Area, with the support of the Citizen Security Unit of the Madrid Civil Guard Command and the Air Service, deployed a device with which they managed to arrest the suspicious.
Eight continue to be searched and captured
Last Monday, the National Police launched the campaign with the image of ten fugitives wanted by national and international courts, some of them wanted and captured for more than 15 years. Now, eight of them remain missing.
The fugitives included have different criminal profiles for crimes such as intentional homicide, sexual abuse, drug trafficking and counterfeiting of coins.
