Famous “Love Story” actor dies at 82

The American actor, Ryan O’Neal, died this Friday at the age of 82.

His son, Patrick O’Neal, was the one who confirmed the death of the actor known for his role in the film “Love Story” that premiered in 1970.

“My father died today peacefully, with his beloved team at his side supporting him and loving him as he loved us,” he wrote on social media.

“My father Ryan O’Neal has always been my hero. He looked up to him and he was always larger than life. When I was born in 1967, my father was already a television star on Peyton Place. There he met my mother, Leigh Taylor-Young, and about 9 months later (…) I was born,” said Patrick.

“My father became an international movie star with Love Story in the early 70s, a decade he swept starring in films such as What’s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon, Barry Lyndon, A Bridge Too Far, The Main Event and The Driver ”he added.

His son Patrick dedicated several publications to him and remembered the moments he shared with the American.

“We loved playing or watching sports together,” he counted. “Some fantastic Frisbee tosses on the silver that would last all weekend. During years. “That was our bond.”

According to the Spanish media El País, in 2001 the actor was diagnosed with leukemia and then, in 2012 with grade four prostate cancer.

However, the cause of his death is not known with certainty.

The media pointed out that, all his life, the actor has been involved in cinema. His mother was an actress, his father a screenwriter.

“I hope he was proud of his career, but he was very humble. (…) He always treated everyone on set very well. “They loved him, I saw it first hand,” Patrick indicated in one of the publications.
