247 – The national president of the PT and federal deputy, Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), took to social media to contest a report by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo about a fluctuation in foreign direct investments (FDI) in Brazil in October.
Estadão says that the data “calls into question” the “narrative” of President Lula’s government about Brazil’s economic attractiveness. However, the newspaper does not mention that Brazil was the second country that attracted the most FDI in the first half of this year, behind only the United States. Furthermore, foreign direct investments have dropped significantly around the world, after a huge jump in 2021.

According to the PT president, the report makes it clear that Estadão “roots against the country”. “The October data is punctual. Estadão’s hatred of Lula, a president who came from the people, really leaves the newspaper blind”, wrote Gleisi in X.
“Estadão article celebrates oscillation in the historical series of direct foreign investments in Brazil in October. In addition to continuing to root against the country, the newspaper hides the real data: according to the OECD, investments fell by around 30% worldwide this year. Even so, Brazil jumped from fifth to second largest destination for direct foreign investment in the period. The data for October is specific. Estadão’s hatred of Lula, a president who came from the people, even leaves the newspaper blind“.
