The general secretary of ERC, Marta Rovira , has stated that the PP proposed to the Republicans to agree in the Congress of Deputies on an investiture of the then popular candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, but they declined. Something that PP sources at laSexta forcefully deny.
“After the Spanish elections, a deputy from the Congress of Deputies came to propose that we speak. A deputy named Carlos Floriano addressed Teresa Jordà,” Rovira explained in an interview this Tuesday on La2 and Ràdio4. “They wanted to form a majority and we We responded that we do not speak with the PP and that we do not. Thank you, but no”, since ERC understood that there was only the possibility of forming a progressive bloc in the Lower House.
PP sources consulted by laSexta they point out that They have never entered into conversations or negotiations with ERC within the framework of the investiture. They explain that the deputy Carlos Floriano commented to an ERC deputy in an informal and colloquial manner in the month of August that they should let the list with the most votes govern, but they distance this fact from any type of negotiation or official conversation for an investiture of Feijóo. And they insist that Floriano did not receive any assignment to raise anything.
Rovira’s revelations add to the information about the PP contacts with Juntsin which he studied the legality of the amnesty law for 24 hours, before discarding it, although Alberto Núñez Feijóo would be open to a conditional pardon for former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont.
In this regard, Rovira has assured that ERC wants to “explain with transparency the political relationships” it maintains, and that “what Junts does must be explained by Junts.”
