Alpine fired Otmar Szafnauer in the middle of the Formula 1 season. And the team is convinced that they made the right decision. This is what the new boss said, Bruno Famin, who has been very harsh in his words against Szafnauer.
In ‘Racing News 365’, Famin has assured that in the factory there is much more freedom: “I think that People are much freer to propose things and improve. “Especially on the track, I immediately saw that mentality change.”
He acknowledges that the car is not as fast as they would like: “The car is still not what we would like, but we have scored more points per race in the second half of the season than in the first.” Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly have suffered a lot in 2023.
“Now that the season is over, which was very tough, I will be able to dedicate more time to the Enstone factory. The idea is to develop the potential of the entire teamdevelop the car’s potential and achieve better results,” concluded Famin.
It is clear that Szafnauer was a ‘problem’ for the Alpine team in recent months. Hence the decision to do without him. Famin has made it very clear that Now they work in a better environment.
