Protesters protest the return of bullfighting to Mexico City

After the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) rejected the injunction that suspended bullfighting in Mexico City, protesters for and against bullfighting demonstrated outside the court on the afternoon of this Wednesday.

The amparo trial will continue until a ruling is issued on it. That sentence could be appealed in the second instance and reach the Court again.

At the federal level, bullfighting has been prohibited in Sonora since 2013; Guerrero, who modified the law in 2014; Coahuila, in 2015 and finally, Quintana Roo, which banned the practice in 2019. In Latin America, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay have banned bullfighting.
