Spanish Radio Television in Castilla-La Mancha istechnological spearhead of the Corporation. With human teams made up of technicians, filmmakers, reporters and journalists, they have contributed to developing and experimenting with new projects that have won international awards.
The joint work of different areas of RTVE: Technological Strategy, Innovation, Radio 3 and Territorial Centers, with own production projects and together with the collaboration of external companies, has been key to being technological pioneers worldwide in many of the award-winning initiatives. . Thus, multidisciplinary teams and theprofessional and technical capacity existing in the territorial centers and in the whole of RTVE.
RTVE multidisciplinary teams, a joint work full of successes
Among the awards received, RTVE has been one of the companies awarded in the VI edition of the Dolby “Innovative 2022” Awardswho has recognized RTVE and Radio 3 for their continued commitment to innovation.
Specifically, it has awarded the project in which Radio 3 made a special from the Prado Museum using Dolby Atmos surround sound technology for the first time in Spain. He did so with the launch of the new album by María Arnal and Marcel Bagés in a unique setting: “El Jardín de las Delicias” by El Bosco.
This project “Radio3 reaches hypersound” has also been awarded by TM Broadcast magazine in the category of “BEST POST-PRODUCTION PROJECT”.
In its second edition, the TM Broadcast Awards They have once again recognized the excellence of several RTVE projects, along with others from companies and corporations such as Telefónica or Mediapro. These awards recognize the value and innovation in the creation industry and dissemination of multimedia content in Spain.
In the “Best 5G Project” category, RTVE has won the project “5G, cloud, closing the circle vertically”. An initiative, within the framework of a Radio 3 concert at Casa América. As a result of FM radio as the origin of broadcasting, it became live with a multi-camera signal made in the cloud to several conventional and digital RTVE platforms. It was made with six audio and video outputs, in vertical and horizontal format.
One of the hallmarks of these projects is the collaboration with other companies such as TVU, who provided the virtual production system “Producer” to carry out the broadcast. Directors, technicians and photojournalists from RTVE C-LM participated with technical and human resources in this project.
In the “Best Innovation Project” category, RTVE has won with the project “AI and cloud application for content analysis in the RTVE archive”. This project contemplates the automatic metadata of video files of RTVE’s documentary collections through artificial intelligence applied to natural language processing and artificial vision. Information is extracted from audio and video by transcribing and processing them, recognizing and cataloging the elements of the scene, including facially.
This project, in which RTVE C-LM has collaborated, allows a more efficient cataloging of RTVE’s extensive documentary collection. It has also received a second prize in the category of “Best Artificial Intelligence Implementation Project”.
For the second consecutive year, RTVE has also been a finalist in the XIV Call for ASLAN Association Digital Transformation Awardsmade up of manufacturers, operators and cloud service providers committed to ICT innovation and cybersecurity.
With the candidacy, “AI applied to elections. Information precision for the common good” this project that uses Artificial Intelligence for the news writing on election results in real time. Based on data provided by official information sources, this technology is capable of interpreting them and transforming them into news related to electoral information. This innovative project aims to position RTVE as a pioneering public medium at the service of citizens.
RTVE C-LM, for five years being a reference in new technologies
RTVE C-LM has also been awarded the C-LM Regional Environment Award 2022 in the category of “Telecommunications and Communication Technology”. An award that recognizes their public service work in raising awareness of environmental protection, while rewarding the use of new technologies in their work and the 5G experiences of the RED.es Project in Castilla-La Mancha.
An award resulting from the trajectory of this territorial center that has become a benchmark in the use of 5G, wireless cameras, drones, augmented reality, cloud production, three-dimensional holophonic sound or MOJO journalism.
Technologies that have been implemented in the workflow since RTVE C-LM embarked on thedigital transformation of news: “Journalism Innovation Hub” within the framework of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival.
Among the pioneering milestones achieved worldwide, the following stand out: first direct with pure native 5G networkconnect the Cortes of Castilla-La Mancha as the first regional parliament in Europe to have a 5G small cell, the first broadcast in edge computing or activate a small cell with the integrated network controller and the possibility of network slicing and also in a rural environment.
RTVE C-LM, advances the future of journalism. It has recently reopened its territorial center in Toledo, renewing its entire technological infrastructure and adapting to the needs of 21st century journalism.
Special programs have been broadcast with 5G technology, mobile devices, cloud production, on the occasion of this inauguration and also at information events of international relevance such as the National Wine Fair (FENAVIN). For the month of July, RTVE C-LM is already designing a special program with these technologies at the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival.
