Ryu Soo-young’s ‘3 chicken legs’ controversy, what’s the big deal? Late night explanation “joke editing” was a misunderstanding

Actor Ryu Soo-young has stepped forward to explain himself amidst the controversy over his personality.

Recently, Ryu Soo-young was embroiled in a controversy over his ‘3 chicken leg mukbang’ due to KBS 2TV’s ‘K-Food Show ‘Taste of the Country’, which ended last year.

Although the program ended last year, the controversial scene has recently spread through various online communities. As a result, malicious comments were posted on his personal channel.

Ryu Soo-young continued to mukbang with Heo Young-man and Ham Yeon-ji on the program, and there was a scene where he appeared to eat 3 chicken legs for spicy stir-fried chicken.

While eating the spicy stir-fried chicken, Ham Yeon-ji said, “There are no legs,” and Heo Young-man replied, “Ryu Soo-young ate all the legs.” Ryu Soo-young said, “I ate 3. Legs.” Viewers were disappointed that Ryu Soo-young ate 3 chicken legs by himself when they were served in a separate bowl, and they left malicious comments saying that he was inconsiderate and rude. He also talked about his character.

As the controversy did not die down, Ryu Soo-young posted a picture on his account late in the afternoon on the 2nd with the caption, “There are people who are curious about ‘Did Ryu Soo-young eat three chicken legs?’, so I’d like to talk about that scene.

In the released photos, Ryu Soo-young is seen being affectionate with Heo Young-man and Ham Yeon-ji as they continue filming.

He explained the situation at the time, saying, “Everyone had already eaten a lot of chicken. I filmed a scene where I was holding a chicken leg and eating it. As you can see in the insert cut of the boiling spicy chicken stew, this restaurant uses a butchering method of cutting the chicken leg in half. It wasn’t easy to find long legs.” He

continued, “After that, when Ham Yeon-ji was filming, I told the production staff who asked me to eat chicken legs, ‘We don’t have any chicken legs,’ and Mr. Heo Young-man joked next to me, ‘Ryu Soo-young ate it all,'” and “I received that in return, saying, ‘I ate it all~^^’ as a joke.”

Ryu Soo-young explained, “The production staff saved that audio and later added that audio to the part where I was eating the chicken legs, and edited it into a scene where I said, ‘It’s so delicious that I ate three chicken legs.'” He also said, “My chicken leg eating scene is the same chicken leg, just from a different angle.” The controversial scene was that Ryu Soo-young was eating a chicken leg.

He explained, “When filming ‘mukbang’ on set, there is always ‘extra food’ prepared for the food filming called insert cuts,” and “If the guest wants to eat more chicken legs or wings, they can refill as much as they want. It was the same that day. There is no case of not being able to eat because there are no chicken legs.” He explained that the

controversy was caused by misunderstandings due to jokes and editing on the show. Ryu Soo-young personally explained his controversy late at night and stepped forward to resolve the situation. Heo Young-man also commented on the same day, saying, “It’s nothing special, it’s okay. Ryu Soo-young is a great friend with great knowledge about food,” and defended Ryu Soo-young.

Meanwhile, Ryu Soo-young is showing off his expertise in cooking and food, and is receiving much love by appearing on entertainment shows such as KBS 2TV’s ‘Convenience Store Restaurant’ and SBS’s ‘Jungle Bob’. In particular, through ‘Convenience Store Restaurant’, he won awards such as the Popularity Award, the Best Award, and the Best Entertainer, and was nominated for the Grand Prize.
