This will be the trophy won by the champion of the Tour of Costa Rica

The Cycling Tour of Costa Rica will begin next Saturday, December 16 and the Costa Rican Cycling Federation (Fecoci) announced the trophy that the champion will lift.

This is the first time the winner will receive a trophyalong with the yellow shirt that always identifies him.

The scepter is made of wood brown and with a sculpture in the shape of a mountaina, which seeks to symbolize the promotion of stages. Besides, the front piece is gold metal which represents triumph in sport, as well as effort, improvement and perseverance.

Finally, the main part is silver, representing the country’s improvement in the face of historical challenges, and the main element is the flag of Costa Rica.

The design was carried out by Jorge Vargas, father of three Costa Rican cyclists and manager of a transnational company, who won a contest held by Fecoci.

“Winning the contest gives me mixed feelings, I was happy and it made me nervous. I really didn’t think I was going to win, I like the designs, but I had never designed a trophy before., Vargas said.

The Vuelta will feature ten stages, which will be:

  • Saturday, December 16: Stage 1: Heredia – Cañas (151.52 kilometers)
  • Sunday, December 17: Stage 2: Cañas – Solarium – Liberia (160.6 kilometers)
  • Monday, December 18: Stage 3: Bagaces – Curubandé (CRE 41.27 kilometers)
  • Tuesday, December 19: Stage 4: Hilton Garden Inn Liberia – Naranjo (172.29 kilometers)
  • Wednesday, December 20: Stage 5: San Ramón – San Ramón (Berlin) (99.87 kilometers)
  • Thursday, December 21: Stage 6: National Stadium – National Stadium (111.07 kilometers)
  • Friday, December 22: Stage 7: San José – Pérez Zeledón (126.67 kilometers)
  • Saturday, December 23: Stage 8: Pérez Zeledón – Oreamuno (117.26 kilometers)
  • Sunday, December 24: Stage 9: Paradise – Paradise (90.95 kilometers)
  • Monday, December 25: Stage 10: Parque La Aurora – Parque La Aurora: (99 kilometers)
