UCR Arts Fair starts today with workshops and parades


The traditional Arts Fair of the University of Costa Rica (UCR), scheduled for December 2023, It will begin this Friday with reading workshops.

For this edition, the fair joins the “Reading Caravan” project of Editorial UCR, incorporating the offer of 25 publishing houses to promote reading and the arts.

According to the agenda for people interested in coming and taking advantage of the different activities, this Friday the following will take place:

  • Children’s reading workshops in the Faculty of Education building: From 8:00 am to 12 noon:
  • CPR workshop, hands onlyat the School of Nursing: From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm:
  • Mobile Simulation Center: Complete assessment, free health examinations in the SIEDIN Parking Lot, in front of the Dean of Arts. From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm:
  • Book Fair: From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Opening with Parade: 11:00 am
  • Wood carving demonstration: From 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Paper Mosaic Workshopsdrawing and collage technique: 12:30 noon:
  • Exchange of read books: From 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
  • ceramic workshop: From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
  • Christmas concert: 2:00 pm
  • Latin American Christmas Carols Concert: 3:00 pm
  • Presentation, Open Dance Pause: 4:00 pm
  • Presentation, Recondita University Dance: 5:00 pm
  • university cinemaFaculty of Education Parking: 7:00 pm

An additional novelty is the participation of the mobile simulation center of the School of Nursing, which will offer free health assessments and Pap tests at a cost of ₡8500.

Services will be available on December 8 and 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The fair will begin with a parade on December 8 at 11:00 am and will culminate with a concert by the group “Son de la U” on December 10 at 5:00 pm in the parking lot of the Editorial and Diffusion System of Research (Siedin) of the UCR.

In additionwill feature the participation of more than 150 visual artistsincluding students, teachers and graduates, who will exhibit and sell a diverse range of artistic products, from painting and sculpture to graphic design and jewelry.

In addition, various cultural activities will be offered, such as concerts, workshops, theater presentations, dance, poetry and University Cinema screenings.

Juan Carlos Calderón, dean of the Faculty of Arts, highlighted the importance of the fair as a space to celebrate the Christmas spirit and enjoy artistic expressions.
